Leadership
David Ortega
Executive Director Sent2Push
David was born in Mexico City. He grew up in California and Texas. David attended the University of Texas at Austin where he received a BA in Biology. Before serving full time in vocational ministry David for various companies in the Houston area as an illustrator and in graphic design. After accepting the call to full time vocational ministry David studied at Southwestern Theological Seminary and received an MDVIBL. For 28 total years David has working in church planting and missions, sixteen of those years David and Mari served overseas in Southeast Asia with the IMB, eight of those years David served with the SBTC in church planting in South Texas, and 4 years as pastor at Sendero Community Church. David also has worked with Hispanic Mobilization for 15 years.
Mari Ortega
Vice Chairman Sent2Push-Training and Grants
Mari was born and raised in South Texas. She studied at Incarnate Word College and graduated from St Mary’s University in San Antonio with a BS in Biology. For many years Mari worked in pharmaceutical sales in Houston and the DFW area before the family left for the mission field in Southeast Asia. On the mission field she was instrumental in starting two schools for poor children in a megacity in Southeast Asia. In the 28 years of ministry Mari has worked with David in evangelism and church planting. Currently she works for the nonprofit arm of Wellmed in South Texas. Mari and David have three children who are married and have a total of six grandchildren.
Jeremy Knight
Vice Chairman Sent2Push-Training and Logistics
Jeremy was born and raised in Houston, Texas where he lived for the first 30 years of his life. He got his bachelor’s and Master’s degree from University of Houston in Civil Engineering. As an engineer he was a drilling rig designer and it was actually his work on drilling rigs that brought him to Brownsville in the first place. In 2016 Jeremy felt the call to ministry and became a teacher at First Baptist School for a year before transitioning onto the Pastoral Staff in 2017. Jeremy is now the Associate of Missions, Assimilation and Discipleship and is also serving as the Kid’s minister. Jeremy has the privilege to serve with his wife Kristen in Kid’s ministry which has always been one of Kristen’s passions. Kristen and Jeremy have been blessed by God with two lovely Children named Kayleigh and Kaitlyn. When not serving at the church, Jeremy loves to spend time with his family. They enjoy hanging out, playing games, playing sports and going biking. Jeremy is an enthusiastic biker, and heads up FBC’s bike fellowship where he gets to join his passion for serving the Lord with his passion for riding his bike.
